What Reshuffle?

The cabinet reshuffle inspires no confidence as far as tackling the economic quagmire Zimbabwe is in is concerned. The portfolio for the finance ministry remains unchanged. Patrick Chinamasa has done no more than articulate what we already know. He has no policies to arrest economic decline as thousands of companies have closed under his watch. He has not dedicated any resources to the productive sector and is struggling to pay civil servants.

As the Greeks challenge the wisdom of conditions based bailout packages from creditors (they don't want to use the word IMF for some reason), Chinamasa continues to beg the same institutions for funding. The reality is that an IMF bailout is a temporary measure if the main drivers of economic growth and development are not in place. Any bailout funds will be devoured by consumptive behaviour which benefits the economies of the countries providing the goods and the services.
